Some key habits and practices to add to your weekly ritual to make the week you want – especially if you’re a busy person!

The Weekly Ritual: Key to Consistent Healthy Choices ????????????
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging, especially in the busier seasons of your life. One powerful strategy I’ve learned from habits-based coaching, and personally implementing these coaching strategies, is the importance of a weekly ritual. This practice has been crucial for me and our nutrition clients in making consistent healthy choices.
We’ve talked recently about a morning and evening ritual, very short but sweet, of mindfulness, breathing, and listening to your thoughts – small practices add up. Those tools are very focused on being present — which is great!!! We could all use some more of that.
In contrast, this tool development is all about creating the framework for success for the week by thinking ahead – and revisiting that framework frequently so it reflects your current stage of life.
Sunday Night Prep: The Foundation of Success
Flexibility and Consistency
Life changes constantly, and so do our routines. Whether juggling young kids, teens, or all of the above, managing a home, and running a gym [you can add in your current, unique set of life circumstances], being flexible yet consistent is vital. This approach has helped me stay on track for nearly 20 years, having once weighed 100 pounds more than I do now. Trust me when I say that ever-updating rituals have been the key.
Selective Willpower + Supportive Environments + Healthy Routines = Success
Weekly Healthy Snack Tote
Each Sunday, prepare a tote filled with healthy snacks to keep at work or home. This habit reduces decision fatigue and ensures you have nutritious options readily available. Here’s what you could include, based upon your preferences, availability of foods, and personal needs:
- Veggies: Cut them up as soon as you get home from the store.
- Fruit: Prepare similarly to veggies – go ahead and portion it all out if you want to make it even easier!
- Mixed Nuts and Seeds: Great for protein and healthy fats – watch those portion sizes of healthy fats, especially if you’re trying to lose some inches – they’re healthy, sure, but they pack in a lot of calories.
- Yogurt or Cheese: Opt for high-protein options.
- Homemade or Pre-Bought Protein Bars: Aim for at least 15g of protein, and try to minimize sugar as best as you’re able.
- Hard-Boiled Eggs: Easy to prepare and packed with protein.
This variety keeps you satisfied and supports your body and schedule throughout the week.
Set Out Workout Outfits
Prepare your workout outfits the night before or pack a duffle bag with several changes of clothes, including socks (people so often forget socks – and shoes!). This small step eliminates excuses and ensures you’re ready to hit the gym. Bonus if you go to our gym: You’ll message us and tell us you forgot something, and we’ll have a way for you to come and work out anyway.)
Reduce Decision Fatigue
By prepping snacks and workout clothes in advance, you eliminate unnecessary decisions, making it easier to stick to your healthy habits. (That decision fatigue thing is REAL!)
Adapt to Your Needs
If this approach doesn’t fit your lifestyle, find a method that increases efficiency, reduces decision fatigue, and sets you up for success. The key is consistency, not perfection.
Stay Flexible and Reevaluate
Periodically reassess your routines to ensure they continue to support your goals. Staying adaptable and consistent will help you maintain your health and happiness.
Give it a try, and let us know how it goes – and remember, you don’t have to implement everything every part of this suggested weekly ritual at once, and this can, and will, change to reflect YOUR needs!
