Don’t Go Alone

We have all had those moments of extreme motivation where we wake up early without an alarm, make a healthy breakfast, take a walk or go on a bike ride, have the motivation to clean the house and maybe even get started on that project you’ve been talking about for a long time! That motivation never seems to linger around though it quickly fades away as we realize that we don’t have the time to do those things daily, we tell ourselves it will have to wait. So instead of making a healthy breakfast we grab a quick donut or two and rush off to run kids to practice or get to work a little earlier to get some extra stuff done. What if we had a community that encouraged us to hold on to that little spurt of motivation, and even instill some into us. Motivate us on the days we really just feel like binge watching Netflix with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, we see this need for external motivation and help from others from earliest civilizations to major sports teams even today!

There is an old African Proverb that says “If you want to go far, go together” an early tribe that were worried about survival. There focus was primarily on eating, drinking, and finding shelter, yet they still needed the motivation and help of those around them to reach their goals of thriving as a tribe.

Today, the Golden State Warriors who have appeared in the last 4 NBA Finals have done it by using the motto “Strength in Numbers”. The understand that throughout a championship series their best players may not perform to their usual superstar ability. That is why they find strength in numbers, everyone on the team is expected to step up and make that play, whether it is the star player or the bench player who gets 3 minutes of game time. They have been to 4 straight NBA finals because they go together, they realize one person cannot do it all themselves.

So why do we tell ourselves we have to reach our goals alone, like they are something to hide from those around us! That is the beauty of our Crossfit community in the gym and now the #ForeverBod Nutrition Challenge starting Monday, June 11thand the Seminar June 9th. The challenge gives each of us the opportunity to come together with a community of people who have the motivation to take the first step, and when the 4thor 5thstep seems hard or the motivation fades there is a community there to pick you right back up. No sliding back to step 2 but to hold you and push you up to step 5 and 6. Small consistent changes, changing our lifestyle and habits; climbing that staircase to reach our individual goals- TOGETHER!
